Senior Contracts Specialist, Government
Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Government Contracts Specialist to manage the full lifecycle of U.S. government and prime contracts. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to support proposal efforts, negotiate agreements, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee contract execution from award through closeout.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Strategy & Negotiations
- Lead contract strategy for new opportunities and active programs.
- Support and negotiate agreements with government agencies and prime contractors.
- Identify contract risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Advise internal leadership on contractual issues and business impacts.
Proposal Support
- Review and analyze government solicitations and RFPs.
- Support proposal development and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Provide guidance on contract terms, conditions, and obligations.
Contract Administration
- Manage contracts throughout performance and closeout.
- Monitor deliverables, modifications, reporting requirements, and key milestones.
- Support customer communications, audits, and contract compliance activities.
- Address contract changes, scope issues, claims, and other contractual matters as needed.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and other applicable government contracting regulations.
- Support internal governance and contract review processes.
- Assist in protecting company intellectual property and data rights.
- Identify and resolve compliance issues and contractual risks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Legal, Finance, Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other business functions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters.
- Help drive alignment between stakeholders to support successful program execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of government contracts experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or technology environments.
- Strong experience managing contracts through the full lifecycle, including proposal support, negotiations, administration, and closeout.
- Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and government contracting practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage risk and navigate complex contractual issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience negotiating complex government and prime contractor agreements.
- Familiarity with various contract types, including FFP, FPI, and CPFF.
- Knowledge of Truthful Cost or Pricing Data (TINA) requirements.
- NCMA certifications (CFCM, CPCM) and/or an advanced degree (MBA, JD).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
