Regulatory & Funds Counsel - Quantitative Hedgefund
About the Role
Our client, a global quantitative hedge fund, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their Hong Kong office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and provide strategic legal advice on regulatory matters impacting hedge fund operations across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on fund regulatory compliance and licensing requirements across APAC and global markets.
- Provide legal support on fund structuring, documentation, and ongoing governance.
- Liaise with regulators and external counsel on regulatory filings and inquiries.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to fund operations, including investment management agreements and service provider contracts.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including compliance, operations, and investment teams to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- PQE: 3-10 years, qualified in Hong Kong or a common law jurisdiction.
- Strong experience in fund regulatory matters, ideally with exposure to hedge funds.
- Background in hedge fund secondment or in-house legal counsel is highly advantageous.
- Excellent understanding of SFC regulations and global fund compliance frameworks.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment.
