About the Opportunity
A top-tier global proprietary trading firm is looking to add a Senior Regulatory Counsel to its legal team. Known for its strong market presence and technology-driven approach, the firm deploys its own capital across a wide range of asset classes worldwide.
Within its digital assets business, the firm plays a key role in bridging institutional finance and the evolving crypto markets, offering liquidity and trading capabilities across global venues on a continuous basis.
This position can be based in Chicago, New York, or Washington, D.C.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor by delivering practical, business-oriented guidance on regulatory requirements impacting trading activities and new initiatives
- Strategic Partnership: Work closely with senior stakeholders to support expansion into new products, markets, and partnerships across both crypto and traditional finance
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams (including trading, tax, finance, and HR) as well as external counsel to execute on complex, multi-jurisdictional projects
- Regulatory Monitoring & Engagement: Track legal and policy developments and help shape the firm's approach through internal advocacy and external engagement with regulators and industry groups
Candidate Profile
- J.D. and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 5-10 years of relevant experience, ideally focused on financial services regulation
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing securities, derivatives, and digital assets (e.g., SEC, CFTC, AML regimes)
- Experience working across both traditional financial products and crypto-related matters
- Exposure to non-U.S. regulatory environments is advantageous
- Interest in market structure, policy developments, and regulatory trends is a plus
- Self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders across functions
