Legal Counsel - Regional Compliance & Commercial

Our client is a leading multinational organization with a strong presence across East Asia and Australia. We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their regional legal team based in Singapore. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting business operations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring legal and ethical compliance, and contributing to strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice across a broad range of areas including commercial, antitrust, consumer protection, privacy, labor, and regulatory compliance (excluding corporate law).
  • Monitor and interpret regional laws and regulations, advising internal stakeholders on compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts including franchise, distribution, supply, partnership, licensing, and marketing agreements.
  • Support the implementation and use of contract lifecycle management tools.
  • Lead the rollout and enforcement of compliance programs (e.g., anti-corruption, antitrust, privacy, export control).
  • Participate in ethics governance, including country-level ethics committees and investigations.
  • Oversee litigation matters in collaboration with external counsel, ensuring alignment with company strategy.
  • Deliver internal training and guidance to enhance legal literacy and compliance awareness across the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Admission to practice in a common law jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in a multinational or regional legal role.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and commercial legal issues in Asia-Pacific.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
