A highly respected, full‑service law firm with a nationally recognized transactional practice is seeking an experienced Real Estate Joint Venture / Investment Fund Tax Attorney to join its Corporate & Tax team. Position Overview
The attorney in this role will serve as a primary advisor on a wide range of real estate and investment‑related tax matters. You will work directly with developers, sponsors, investment managers, and private capital providers on significant and often high‑profile transactions, including:
- Structuring, negotiating, and advising on real estate joint ventures for commercial, industrial, mixed‑use, and multifamily developments
- Counseling clients on tax aspects of opportunity zone funds, including compliance and investment structuring
- Advising on equity rollover transactions, partnership allocations, and complex tax planning strategies
- Forming and structuring investment funds, including private equity, venture capital, and real estate funds
- Representing family offices, registered investment advisors, fund sponsors, and real estate developers
- Providing integrated tax and corporate guidance on entity formation, fund operations, regulatory considerations, and tax‑efficient structures
This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys both strategy and execution - someone who can dive deep into the tax analysis while still advising clients in a practical, business‑oriented manner.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 2+ years of relevant experience in one or more of the following:
- Real estate joint ventures
- Opportunity zone fund structuring
- Investment fund formation
- Partnership tax
- Equity rollover or private equity transactions
- Strong analytical abilities and the capacity to translate technical tax issues into actionable advice
- Excellent academic credentials; an LL.M. in Taxation, CPA, or large law firm experience is strongly preferred
- Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters and maintain strong client relationships
- Desire for a role offering both independence and collaboration within a high‑performing team
