Premier Global Bank - Director, Equity Derivatives Counsel
A leading Primer Global Bank is seeking a Director-level attorney to support its Equity Derivatives business in NYC. This role focuses on advising derivatives, equity swaps, and broader equity derivatives trading activities across the U.S., offering significant exposure to complex trading products, regulatory developments, and strategic business initiatives.
This is a highly collaborative position partnering closely with trading, structuring, compliance, risk, and control functions to provide legal guidance across a sophisticated global markets platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise the equity derivatives business on legal, regulatory, and transactional matters related to derivatives, equity swaps, and related trading products.
- Draft, review, and negotiate trading documentation and develop template agreements supporting ongoing business activities.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify and manage legal and regulatory risks associated with existing and new products.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting derivatives markets and provide proactive guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Support regulatory inquiries, investigations, disputes, and other legal proceedings affecting the business.
Required Background:
- J.D. and 6+ years of experience advising financial institutions on equity derivatives, swaps, structured products, capital markets, or related trading businesses.
- Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing derivatives and securities transactions.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex trading documentation and providing practical legal advice to front-office stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and collaborate effectively across legal, business, risk, compliance, and regulatory teams.
