Patent Agent
A battery manufacturing company is seeking a highly motivated Patent Agent to join their team on a contract-to-employment track. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in intellectual property law and hands-on experience in battery technologies. You will play a critical role in protecting innovations and supporting R&D teams by managing patent filings, prosecution, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications related to battery technologies and energy storage systems.
- Conduct prior art searches and provide patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement analyses.
- Collaborate closely with internal engineering and R&D teams to identify patentable inventions.
- Manage relationships with external counsel and coordinate global patent filings.
- Maintain and update patent portfolios, ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulations.
- Advise on IP strategy to align with business objectives and emerging technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of law firm experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
- Hands-on experience with battery technologies (e.g., lithium-ion, solid-state, energy storage systems).
- Registered to practice before the USPTO
- Strong understanding of patent law, IP strategy, and global filing processes.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
