Our Client is seeking a skilled and business-minded Legal Counsel - Real Estate to join their in-house legal team at a leading energy company. This role will support a wide range of real estate transactions and legal matters critical to the development, operation, and expansion of their energy infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in general real estate law.

Legal Counsel - Real Estate, Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of real estate agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, licenses, and access agreements.
  • Play a key role in structuring, negotiating, and closing complex real estate deals, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Support real estate transactions related to site acquisition, development, and property management across the company's portfolio.
  • Conduct and coordinate due diligence, including title and survey review, zoning analysis, and environmental assessments.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on land use, permitting, and regulatory compliance matters affecting real estate assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, construction, operations, and environmental to support real estate needs across the business.
  • Manage outside counsel on real estate transactions and land-related disputes.
  • Assist with real estate aspects of broader corporate initiatives, including M&A, divestitures, and infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain and update real estate documentation and ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable laws.

Legal Counsel - Real Estate, Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • 3+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial real estate law, with experience in land use, permitting, and infrastructure development.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and closing real estate deals, including acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing transactions.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
