Legal Counsel
About the Role:
This is a strategic legal position offering exposure to a wide range of legal and regulatory matters across the firm's investment activities. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders across legal, compliance, investment, and operations, providing expert legal guidance to support the firm's commercial objectives while ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
You will be involved in advising on fund structuring, regulatory developments, commercial contracts, and corporate governance matters. The role requires a high level of autonomy, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on investment management activities, including fund formation, structuring, and distribution.
- Draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of commercial agreements, including investment documentation, service provider contracts, and confidentiality agreements.
- Advise on UK and EU financial services regulation, including FCA requirements, AIFMD, MiFID II, and ESG-related disclosures.
- Support the launch of new products and initiatives, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with external counsel and regulatory authorities as needed.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the firm's operations.
Qualifications:
- UK-qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, ideally gained in-house within asset management or at a top-tier law firm.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial services regulation and investment management.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with a pragmatic and commercially focused approach.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships across legal, compliance, and business teams.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
