Labor & Employment Associate - New York City (Hybrid)

Our client, an Am Law 50 firm, is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate with 3-5 years of complex employment litigation experience to join its highly regarded New York practice. The team represents major employers across industries in high‑stakes single‑plaintiff matters, wage and hour class actions, restrictive covenant disputes, and nationwide counseling. The practice is consistently recognized by The Legal 500 in the U.S. and EMEA for its depth and excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Litigate employment disputes, including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wrongful termination cases
  • Handle wage and hour class and collective actions involving federal and state law
  • Draft substantive motions, including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment
  • Take and defend depositions; support witness preparation
  • Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and contested matters
  • Advise clients on federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Counsel on restrictive covenant issues, particularly those governed by California law
  • Conduct California wage and hour audits; review and update employer policies
  • Collaborate with cross‑practice teams on employment issues in corporate transactions

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of labor and employment litigation experience
  • Strong writing, research, and analytical abilities
  • Experience taking or defending depositions and drafting substantive motions
  • Courtroom experience in contested hearings
  • Familiarity with California wage and hour compliance is strongly valued
  • Excellent credentials from a top law school
  • Admission to the New York Bar is required
  • Traditional labor experience is a plus, but not required
