Head of Legal
A growing commercial solar developer is hiring its first in-house Legal Counsel to lead all legal matters and build the legal function.
Responsibilities:
- Lead legal support for solar project development, including site control, interconnection, PPAs, and EPC agreements.
- Advise on project and corporate financing transactions, including tax equity, joint ventures, and credit facilities.
- Manage entity formation, governance, and structuring for project SPVs and affiliated entities.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Provide strategic legal guidance to senior leadership on risk, commercial strategy, and operational decisions.
- Oversee outside counsel across tax, environmental, real estate, and employment.
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school; active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum 5 years of legal experience, including time in both a law firm and in-house setting.
- Substantial experience supporting renewable energy transactions, particularly in project development, commercial contracting, and M&A or joint venture contexts
- Strong understanding of project finance structures, including tax equity and debt.
- Ability to work independently and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
