A cutting edge Software Company is looking to bring on their First In-House Counsel. A leader in the space for almost 40 years, this platform provides solutions that ease communications, improve efficiencies, streamline process, and organize information. Public safety and government organizations rely heavily on this platform, and the team is looking to bring some legal work in-house. In this role, you'd be able to take real autonomy over your commercial work and embed yourself with the company.

This role is hybrid based in Chicago, IL area.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements - partnership, customer and vendor, NDAs, software licensing, etc.
  • Manage Statements of Work and update accordingly
  • Stay abreast on legal frameworks and laws
  • Improve efficiencies within company
  • Partner cross functionally with different business units for commercial matters
  • Ensure compliance with matters including insurance, tax, and audits

Requirements:

  • JD from ABA accredited law school
  • Active Bar license in at least one US state (IL preferred)
  • 3+ years of legal experience
  • In-house preferred or coming from commercial/transactional practice group at law firm
  • Experience drafting, review, and negotiating commercial agreements, ideally in tech space
  • Ability to work independently and take leadership over work
  • Project management experience is a plus
