I'm currently working with an Industry leading retailer serving rural and suburban communities with a wide range of essential products, from food and feed to farm and home goods. With over 140 locations across multiple states and a growing footprint, their annual sales exceed $2 billion.
looking for a skilled legal professional to join our team as Corporate Counsel, Labor & Employment. In this role, you'll be the Lead advisor on employment law matters, helping shape workplace policies, manage legal risk, and support a positive employee experience across the organization reporting directly to the General Counsel.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary legal resource for all labor and employment matters, offering strategic advice on compliance, employee relations, and workplace policies.
- Collaborate with HR and business leaders to proactively identify and mitigate legal risks.
- Draft and negotiate a variety of employment-related agreements, including NDAs, non-competes, and severance packages.
- Oversee employment litigation and coordinate with outside counsel to ensure effective case management and resolution.
- Conduct internal investigations into employee complaints and workplace concerns, ensuring thorough documentation and appropriate follow-up.
- Stay on top of evolving federal, state, and local employment laws, and communicate key updates to leadership and relevant teams.
- Design and deliver training sessions for HR and management on employment law topics and best practices.
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that support business goals and promote a compliant, inclusive workplace.
- Provide clear, practical legal guidance to non-legal stakeholders across departments.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on legal trends and sharpen your skills.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the legal team and broader organization.
What You'll Bring
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law (or eligibility for admission within 6 months).
- At least 3 years of experience in labor and employment law, ideally with both in-house and law firm exposure.
- Strong legal research and writing skills, with proficiency in tools like Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Familiarity with HR systems and legal case management platforms, or the ability to learn quickly.
