Contract Manager
A renewable energy company is looking for a Contract Manager to join its legal team. This role will be responsible for managing the negotiation, execution, and administration of agreements related to power and natural gas commodity transactions, electric transmission, and natural gas transportation and storage. The position plays a vital role in ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and supporting the company's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Manage contract data entry and maintenance within trade capture and contract management systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, including business contracts, confidentiality agreements, vendor agreements, service agreements, trading contracts, guaranty agreements, statements of work, task orders, certificates, and amendments.
- Conduct contract analysis and industry research to identify trends, mitigate potential risks, and ensure adherence to evolving regulations.
- Monitor contract lifecycles, ensuring timely extensions, renewals, or modifications in alignment with strategic goals.
- Develop and maintain contract templates to enhance efficiency and align with industry best practices and risk management frameworks.
- Act as a key resource for contract-related inquiries, providing timely responses to internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead the negotiation and execution of contracts supporting power and natural gas commodity transactions, as well as electric transmission and natural gas transportation/storage agreements.
- Support legal counsel by assisting with drafting, research, and collaboration with cross-functional teams on contract-related matters.
- Facilitate business development initiatives by presenting and promoting contract-related services to prospective clients and partners.
- Maintain a high level of internal stakeholder engagement by ensuring responsiveness, accuracy, and a solutions-oriented approach.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in contract review, negotiation, and administration, with a preference for expertise in energy, commercial, and financial transactions.
- Knowledge of industry contracts, including ISDAs, EEIs, and NAESBs, preferred.
- Experience navigating complex contract structures and regulatory frameworks within the public utilities and renewable energy space.
- Attention to detail, with the ability to identify and mitigate contractual risks while ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
- Proficiency in contract management systems and trade capture platforms.
- Communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across legal, risk, and business development teams.
