Compliance Officer - FinTech Consumer Regulatory
A growing financial services business is seeking an experienced Consumer Finance Regulatory Officer to join a lean, highly collaborative legal and compliance team. The role will advise across consumer lending products including mortgages, HELOCs, and secured and unsecured credit products, helping ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, internal policies, and third-party banking requirements. This attorney will partner closely with product, engineering, compliance, and business teams on new product development, servicing, marketing, disclosures, regulatory change, and risk management. The environment is fast-paced and entrepreneurial, making this an excellent opportunity for a practical attorney who enjoys solving complex regulatory issues and providing commercial guidance where requirements are not always black and white.
Requirements
- 7+ Years of compliance experience at a FinTech or Sponsor Bank
- JD preferred
- At least 3 recent years focused on consumer finance or lending regulation
- Strong knowledge of TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, UDAAP, TRID, HMDA and related state lending requirements
- Experience advising on mortgage, HELOC, credit card, or other consumer lending products
- Ability to review and draft loan agreements, disclosures, policies, marketing materials and commercial contracts
- Experience with lending, servicing, licensing, complaints, audits, examinations, and regulatory inquiries
- Comfortable monitoring regulatory developments and translating requirements into practical policies and controls
- In-house experience within a bank, fintech, mortgage lender, or consumer finance business strongly preferred
- Strong analytical, drafting, communication, and creative problem-solving skills
- Northern California preferred, with flexibility for remote candidates working Pacific hours
