A leading global provider of credit ratings, research, and financial intelligence is seeking an experienced CMBS Counsel to join its legal team. This high-impact role offers the opportunity to work alongside premier commercial real estate finance professionals on some of the market's most sophisticated securitization transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support for commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) ratings activities and related structured finance transactions.
  • Review and analyze transaction documents, including pooling and servicing agreements, mortgage loan documentation, and offering materials.
  • Advise business stakeholders on legal, transactional, and regulatory matters impacting CMBS and structured finance products.
  • Collaborate closely with analytical, compliance, and commercial teams on new initiatives, transaction execution, and market developments.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and other legal documentation.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting commercial real estate finance and securitization markets.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership.
  • 6+ years of relevant legal experience.
  • Experience gained at a leading law firm, financial institution, ratings agency, investment bank, or real estate finance platform.
  • Strong knowledge of CMBS transactions, commercial real estate finance, securitization, structured finance, or related capital markets products.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment.
