We are seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Business Development Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in driving the firm's growth by identifying new opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and refining our business development functions. This role is designed for someone with experience in business development or marketing, especially in a legal or professional services environment, who is eager to help shape the future of a modern law firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management: Work closely with attorneys to build and maintain strong client relationships, utilizing CRM tools to manage communication, track interactions, and identify new business opportunities. Focus on expanding market share with existing clients, including cross-selling and collaborating with relationship partners to develop account-specific strategies.
- New Business Development: Identify, pursue, and convert new client opportunities across industries such as startups, corporations, and government entities. Develop and implement outreach strategies designed to attract new clients and drive business growth.
- Pitch & Proposal Support: Lead the preparation of tailored pitches and proposals, collaborating with legal teams to craft compelling narratives supported by data and industry-specific insights. Create and adapt presentation materials to highlight the firm's unique value and capabilities. Track the outcomes of pitches to evaluate trends, wins, and areas for improvement.
- Market Research & Strategy: Conduct in-depth research to identify emerging trends, industry shifts, and potential client needs. Develop actionable market intelligence and strategic plans that help the firm enhance its position within the competitive landscape.
- Function Building: Help define, implement, and scale the business development function across the firm. Create efficient processes, tools, and playbooks that support long-term business development growth.
- Delivery Model Expertise: Clearly communicate the firm's innovative service delivery models to prospective clients and partners, positioning Ivory as a leader in efficient and tech-driven legal services.
- Collaboration with Business Intelligence: Partner with the Business Intelligence team to identify, evaluate, and engage potential clients, using data-driven strategies to guide outreach and track progress.
- Competitive Intelligence & Reporting: Conduct research and prepare intelligence reports on competitors, clients, and target industries to inform strategic planning, maintain industry position, and enhance the firm's marketing efforts.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of business development, marketing, or client relations experience, ideally in the legal or professional services sector.
- Strong understanding of legal services, including industry delivery models, business dynamics, and market trends.
- Proven track record of generating and converting new business, particularly through strategic outreach and relationship-building.
- Expertise in preparing compelling, data-driven pitches and presentations.
- Advanced research skills across legal, business, and industry-specific resources.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and data analytics tools to track and optimize outreach efforts.
- Excellent client service orientation, strong listening skills, and the ability to engage with firm leadership and cross-functional teams.
