They are seeking an Associate Counsel to support their growing operations in Irvine, California. This role will work closely with the Senior Regional Counsel for California and Florida, providing strategic legal support across the business and helping guide critical decisions that influence major infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of construction, commercial, and corporate contracts.
  • Assist in developing dispute and claims strategies; supervise outside counsel and participate in litigation management.
  • Represent the company in mediations and serve as client representative during arbitrations.
  • Prepare corporate documents, joint venture agreements, and partnership contracts.
  • Advise senior leadership on matters involving legal risk, compliance, operations, and corporate governance.
  • Build strong relationships with construction project teams and internal business partners.
  • Improve legal workflows and contribute to risk‑reduction strategies across the organization.
  • Conduct project site visits as needed to provide legal guidance in real time.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor or LL.M. degree required
  • Active member of the California Bar
  • 5+ years of legal experience, ideally with a background in public contracting or large infrastructure projects
  • Experience advising internal clients on complex legal issues
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to balance risk and operational needs

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with Lexis, MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and working knowledge of Excel
  • Exceptional writing ability, with a talent for crafting clear and persuasive agreements without unnecessary legalese
  • High emotional intelligence, strong analytical skills, and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adjust to shifting demands
  • Collaborative mindset, professionalism, and openness to feedback
  • Ability to interpret financial documents and see strategic opportunities as they emerge
  • A genuine interest in infrastructure projects and becoming a trusted advisor within the business
