My client is seeking a Family Law Associate Attorney to join its busy Family Law group. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an attorney to gain hands-on experience across all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and equitable distribution. The associate will work closely with experienced attorneys and serve a diverse client base throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area and beyond. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-paced practice, assume responsibility for cases, and gain meaningful courtroom experience.
Responsibilities
- Draft motions, pleadings, discovery requests, financial statements, and other legal documents
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Review and analyze discovery materials
- Draft client and opposing counsel correspondence
- Negotiate with opposing counsel
- Represent clients in court hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions throughout Maryland and Washington, DC
- Prepare for trial, including drafting exhibits and coordinating with witnesses
- Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and clear explanations of legal processes
- Manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality client service
Qualifications
- Admission to practice law in Maryland is required; Washington, DC bar admission is a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of family law litigation experience preferred
- Proven experience drafting family law pleadings, motions, discovery, and financial statements
- Strong legal research, writing, organizational, and communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged matters with professionalism and compassion
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and a demanding caseload
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of applicable Maryland and DC family law rules, statutes, and guidelines preferred
- Prior courtroom experience preferred
