Senior Attorney | Commercial Real Estate Finance & Structured Transactions
Location: New York, NY or Chicago, IL
Compensation: $250,000 - $275,000 Base Salary + Comprehensive Benefits
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office)
A leading financial services organization is seeking an experienced attorney to join a highly specialized legal and transaction review team supporting complex commercial real estate finance and structured transactions.
This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of law, credit analysis, and capital markets, partnering closely with industry professionals on a broad range of institutional real estate financing transactions. The position provides significant exposure to commercial real estate debt structures, large loan transactions, securitizations, and other structured finance products across multiple asset classes.
Key Responsibilities
- Review offering, financing, and transaction documentation for commercial real estate and structured finance transactions.
- Identify legal, structural, and credit-related considerations that may impact transaction performance.
- Analyze loan and transaction structures across a variety of commercial real estate financing platforms.
- Partner with internal analytical and business stakeholders on transaction evaluations and risk assessments.
- Coordinate with external counsel and other transaction participants throughout the review process.
- Participate in committee and transaction review discussions.
- Assist in the preparation of market research, transaction commentary, and industry publications.
- Support ongoing review and monitoring of existing commercial real estate and structured finance transactions.
Ideal Background
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate finance, structured finance, CMBS, real estate lending, securitization, private credit, or related transactional practices.
- Strong understanding of commercial mortgage loan documentation and financing structures.
- Experience reviewing complex transaction documents and identifying key legal and structural risks.
- Excellent analytical, research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple active transactions simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
