Tax, Estates & Planning Attorney (2-5YR) - LONDON

The opportunity

Our client is a mid-sized US law firm with a strong private client practice internationally, currently in the early stages of building out its UK presence. The firm is investing in London as a long-term strategic hub and is seeking a junior private client associate to join its growing team.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a foundational UK private client offering, working closely with senior lawyers on high-quality, often cross-border matters, while gaining exposure that would typically take longer to access in a more established team.

The role

You will support on a broad range of UK and international private client matters, including:

  • UK and cross-border estate planning
  • Trust creation, administration and restructuring
  • Succession planning for high- and ultra-high-net-worth individuals
  • UK tax issues, including inheritance tax, capital gains tax and income tax
  • Advising internationally mobile clients, business owners and families with UK connections
  • Liaising with offshore advisers, US colleagues and other international counsel

The emphasis is on technical development and responsibility, with junior associates encouraged to take ownership of workstreams while being closely supported.

The team and culture

  • A lean, high-calibre private client team with direct partner access
  • Strong integration with the firm's US and international private wealth practices
  • Genuinely entrepreneurial environment, where associates can help shape processes and the future direction of the UK practice
  • Collegiate, low‑ego culture with a focus on long-term progression rather than hierarchy

The candidate

  • 0-2 years' PQE in private client work
  • Training and/or experience gained at a recognised UK, international or US firm
  • A solid grounding in trusts, estates and private client taxation
  • An interest in international and cross-border private wealth work
  • Strong academics and excellent written and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, curious mindset and comfort working in a growing practice
