Sr. Counsel - Risk Management & Litigation

A real estate investment management firm is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join the Legal team. This role will focus on risk management, litigation oversight and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Management:

• Support the development and maintenance of the company's enterprise risk management framework.
• Manage the placement and renewal of property, casualty, and business insurance policies across the portfolio
• Handle insurance claims, working closely with brokers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely and effective resolution

Litigation Oversight:

• Manage the company's litigation portfolio by collaborating with external counsel and internal teams to ensure efficient and strategic resolution
• Coordinate with outside counsel, monitor case progress, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Maintain records of litigation matters and provide regular updates to senior management.

Operations:

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with vendors, contractors, and service providers, ensuring alignment with company policies and risk management objectives.
• Develop and maintain standard contract templates and best practices for operational agreements.
• Provide legal support to property management and construction teams

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing.
• 5+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on risk management, insurance and litigation
• Experience in real estate law, investment management, or financial services preferred.
• Experience in a real estate investment firm or property management firm preferred
