Sr Counsel - Labor & Employment - REMOTE
Sr Counsel (Fully Remote) - Employment Law | Reduced Billables 1500, No Business Development
Anywhere in the United States (Must be barred in the state you reside) | 6+ Years' Employment Law Experience
Are you an experienced employment attorney who wants to keep doing sophisticated, substantive legal work - without the shareholder-track demands, business development pressure, or travel? My client, one of the largest and most respected management-side labor & employment firms in the world, is expanding its remote Counsel, Charges team, and this is a rare opportunity to build a challenging practice around the balance you actually want.
This role is ideal for a range of backgrounds, including:
- Former partners who want to continue practicing at a highly sophisticated firm but are ready to take a step back from the origination and management demands of an equity role.
- Senior associates who want real ownership of their matters and a better quality of life, but aren't ready to move in-house.
- Attorneys returning to or re-balancing their careers who value flexibility without sacrificing the intellectual challenge of full-cycle work.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Fully remote - work from anywhere in the U.S. (must be barred in the state you reside)
- Reduced billable hours requirement compared to traditional on-track roles. (1500)
- No required business development and no business-related travel.
- Substantive, self-directed work: you own each administrative agency charge and demand letter from investigation through conclusion. Strong autonomy.
- Backed by the full resources, technology, and brand of a global firm - without the pressure of a shareholder-path position.
- Base salary range of $140,000-$175,000 (dependent on experience and education), plus performance-based bonuses and a generous benefits package.
What You'll Do
As Counsel, Charges, you'll defend administrative agency charges and attorney demand letters from start to finish, working directly with clients and agencies. Your work will include:
- Drafting persuasive position statements.
- Responding to agency requests for information.
- Representing clients in settlement negotiations and remote mediations.
You'll be supported by a data-driven technology platform and a specialized workflow designed to let skilled attorneys focus on high-quality legal work - not administrative overhead.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of employment law experience, including drafting position statements and representing clients at hearings and/or mediations.
- Familiarity with administrative agency charges at the federal and state level on the management side.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
- An active bar license in your state of residence.
- Comfort with (and curiosity about) AI-driven and emerging legal technologies, and the aptitude to apply them to improve efficiency and client service.
