Senior Paralegal

Primary Duties

  • Support attorneys in managing litigation, including evaluating new cases, organizing and updating case records, handling discovery responses, and tracking court dates and key deadlines.
  • Administer legal hold notices, handle subpoena responses, and coordinate service of legal documents across the organization.
  • Provide assistance in managing asbestos-related cases and maintain communication with insurance providers.
  • Help shape litigation strategy and oversee all claims and legal matters, from initial intake through resolution, covering open hull, P&I, and general marine liability claims.
  • Communicate with policyholders, claimants, legal experts, and outside counsel regarding both pre-litigation and active litigation issues.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and monitor claim reserves, and prepare related financial reports.
  • Assist with legal reporting using case management software.
  • Draft and review a range of commercial contracts and documents, including IT, procurement, and supply agreements.
  • Support attorneys in preparing and finalizing documents related to corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, real estate, and finance.
  • Occasionally assist with due diligence efforts, including checklist creation, document collection, and summary preparation.
  • File and manage UCC financing statements and conduct UCC searches and document reviews.
  • Conduct legal research on commercial law topics and contribute to strategic legal initiatives.
  • Experience with contract lifecycle tools, document management systems, and legal operations is advantageous.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a paralegal
  • Paralegal certification or degree is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of quickly learning new legal tech tools.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and collaborative across departments.
