About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join a globally distributed in-house legal team. Reporting into senior legal leadership, you will act as a key legal advisor for European operations while supporting international initiatives.
This role requires a commercially minded lawyer who is confident operating autonomously, managing complex legal matters, and navigating evolving regulatory landscapes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commercial & Contracting: Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, including infrastructure, technology, and cross-border arrangements.
- Regulatory & Compliance: Provide legal analysis on European and international regulatory frameworks (e.g. energy, data protection, and emerging technologies).
- Corporate Governance: Oversee governance matters across European entities, including board processes, statutory compliance, and entity management.
- Operational Support: Optimise contract lifecycle management processes and support internal stakeholders with scalable legal solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional teams across multiple jurisdictions.
- External Counsel Management: Coordinate with external legal advisors and regulatory bodies where required.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified lawyer (EU or US) with strong academic credentials.
- 6+ years' experience gained in a leading law firm and/or international in-house environment.
- Strong background in commercial law and complex contract negotiations.
- Experience working in international, cross-border environments.
- Exposure to regulated industries such as technology, energy, infrastructure, or digital assets is advantageous.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communicator, able to translate complex legal issues into practical business advice.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a remote / international team structure.
- Fluent English required, Norwegian a strong advantage.
