Real Estate Counsel - Consumer & Media Operating Platform

A New York-based operating company with a diversified portfolio across media and consumer-facing assets is seeking a Real Estate Counsel to support its growing development initiatives.

This role will serve as the primary legal partner to the real estate and operations teams, handling transactional matters and providing strategic, business-focused guidance.

This position would sit fully on-site out of the company's office in New York City.

Overview
This attorney will lead day-to-day real estate transactions while advising internal stakeholders on risk allocation, development strategy, and operational matters. The role requires a practical, solutions-oriented lawyer who is comfortable operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.

In addition to core real estate responsibilities, the position will provide support on broader commercial agreements tied to the company's operating divisions.

Responsibilities
* Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and residential leases
* Structure and negotiate development, construction, architectural, and vendor agreements
* Support acquisitions, redevelopment projects, and ongoing property operations
* Manage and oversee real estate-related disputes and coordinate with outside counsel as needed
* Prepare and negotiate NDAs, guaranties, term sheets, and other commercial agreements
* Advise internal business teams on legal and operational risk
* Participate in deal strategy discussions and provide practical, business-oriented guidance
* Conduct legal research and support senior leadership on strategic initiatives

Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
* Significant experience handling commercial leasing and real estate transactions
* Exposure to litigation management and dispute oversight
* Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
* Active New York Bar admission
* Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
* Sound business judgment and risk assessment capabilities
