About the Role

A rapidly expanding, consumer-focused company with operations across North America and international markets is seeking a Director, Legal Counsel to join its growing in-house legal team. The Director will play a hands-on role supporting day-to-day legal needs while also providing forward-looking counsel as the company scales. This position combines transactional execution with cross-functional advisory work and will help design practical, scalable legal frameworks that support a high-growth, collaborative organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and administer the full lifecycle of commercial agreements, including drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and managing contracts across vendors, suppliers, manufacturing partners, marketing, technology, services, and real estate.
  • Serve as a cross-functional legal partner to Operations, Marketing, Growth, Finance, Digital, and People teams, with particular emphasis on employment-related compliance, workplace policies, and employee relations matters.
  • Liaise with and manage external legal counsel in connection with litigation, employment, and related matters.
  • Research, interpret, and monitor applicable laws, regulations, and policy changes to provide informed guidance on their impact to business operations and expansion initiatives.
  • Anticipate legal and regulatory issues and develop practical, business-aligned strategies to manage and reduce risk.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Legal Officer to create and implement standardized templates, workflows, and playbooks that support efficient scaling while safeguarding compliance.
  • Review and advise on marketing materials, advertising campaigns, digital content, and employment documentation to ensure legal and regulatory adherence

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license in good standing
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience; prior in-house experience strongly preferred
  • Food & Beverage, restaurant, or CPG experience preferred
  • Significant experience drafting, negotiating, and managing complex commercial agreements; experience with real estate or lease-related contracts is a plus.
