Legal Counsel

A Florida-based construction company with restoration services is hiring its first in-house Legal Counsel. The company serves residential and commercial clients across the state and is looking for an attorney to lead all legal matters and support its continued growth.

The Legal Counsel will serve as the primary legal advisor to the business, managing all legal matters and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role will focus on contract negotiation, collections, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. The attorney will work closely with senior leadership and be responsible for building internal legal processes and ensuring compliance with Florida law.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including contracts with homeowners, subcontractors, vendors, and service providers
  • Advise on Florida lien law, assignment of benefits (AOB), and other statutory collection tools
  • Support operational, sales, and finance teams on contractual enforcement, dispute resolution, and compliance
  • Develop and implement internal legal strategies for collections, including lien filings and demand letters
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, advertising, permitting, and insurance claims
  • Provide guidance on marketing practices and interactions with public adjusters
  • Establish internal legal policies, document retention procedures, and trainings
  • Advise leadership on legal risks related to business operations and strategic initiatives

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing with the Florida Bar is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, including contract law, collections, and regulatory compliance
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is required
  • Strong understanding of Florida lien law and relevant statutes
  • Experience in restoration or emergency services is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Practical, business-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach

This is an on-site position. While some flexibility is offered, candidates must currently reside in Florida and be licensed to practice law in the state.
