Overview
A prestigious specialist law firm is seeking a talented 3-5 PQE Associate or Senior Associate to join its highly regarded Intellectual Property practice in London.
This opportunity would suit a lawyer with experience across patent litigation and broader IP disputes, looking to work on complex, high-profile matters for innovative clients operating at the forefront of technology, media, life sciences, digital platforms, telecommunications, and consumer products.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team advising clients on strategically important IP disputes, enforcement actions, licensing issues, and patent-related litigation before the UK courts.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising clients on a broad range of intellectual property disputes, with a particular focus on patent litigation.
- Managing matters before the High Court, Court of Appeal, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC), and UKIPO.
- Assisting on multi-jurisdictional patent disputes involving coordination with international counsel.
- Advising on infringement, validity, enforcement, and freedom-to-operate issues.
- Working closely with clients in the technology, life sciences, media, entertainment, and digital sectors.
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, expert evidence instructions, and other court documents.
- Supporting alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediations and settlement negotiations.
- Providing commercially focused advice on IP strategy, risk management, and dispute resolution.
- Participating in business development initiatives, client events, and thought leadership activities.
- Collaborating with colleagues across commercial, regulatory, data protection, and corporate practice areas where matters overlap.
Candidate Profile
- England & Wales qualified solicitor with approximately 3-5 years' PQE.
- Strong experience gained within a recognised IP litigation practice.
- Exposure to patent litigation is essential, with additional experience across trademarks, copyright, designs, confidential information, and broader IP disputes highly advantageous.
- Excellent technical drafting and analytical skills.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Experience managing client relationships and taking ownership of workstreams.
- Commercially minded with a genuine interest in innovation, technology, media, and emerging industries.
- Confident communicator capable of working directly with sophisticated clients and external stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.
