In-House Counsel - FinTech
A growing fintech company in the consumer finance space is looking to bring on an In-House Counsel to provide legal support across a range of legal and regulatory issues. The person in this role will report directly to the C- suite and will stay up to date on the latest regulatory and legal changes across the United States that would impact a consumer lending focused business. The ideal fit for this role is somebody with 3+ years of legal experience in the consumer lending or financial services space and located in the Chicago area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate various commercial contracts
- Track any changes to relevant laws and regulations impacting data privacy, consumer lending and data protection
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership team
- Work with Compliance to identify and manage any legal risks and mitigate risk
- Communicate with state and federal regulators while supporting regulatory reporting and filings
- Support relating to board activities, governance matters
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor
- Active bar membership and a license to practice law in-house in Illinois
- 3+ years of legal experience in the financial services or consumer lending space
- Deep understanding of lending laws and consumer protection regulations
- Able to be in office 3 days a week (flexible) in the Chicago, IL office
