About Us

We're a mission-driven fintech startup based in San Francisco, focused on empowering front-line workers-teachers, nurses, first responders, and others-who carry consumer debt. Our platform helps them achieve financial stability while continuing their vital public service. We believe that access to fair, transparent lending is a cornerstone of economic mobility, and we're building tools to make that a reality.

Backed by top-tier venture capital firms, we are entering a phase of disciplined but extensive scaling. This is an exciting time to join a company that combines purpose with innovation, and where your work will directly impact the lives of those who serve our communities.

The Role

We're looking for a seasoned Head of Compliance to lead and scale our compliance function from the ground up. You'll be the architect of our regulatory strategy, ensuring our lending products meet all federal and state requirements while staying true to our values of transparency and trust. This is a high-impact leadership role reporting directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive compliance program for consumer lending
  • Ensure adherence to federal and state lending laws, including TILA, ECOA, FCRA, UDAAP, and others
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulators and external legal counsel
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Operations to embed compliance into product development
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively adjust policies and procedures
  • Lead internal audits and risk assessments
  • Build and manage a small compliance team as the company scales

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in consumer lending compliance, preferably with exposure to credit card products
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. lending regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Proven track record of building or scaling compliance programs, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex regulations into actionable guidance
  • Passion for financial inclusion and improving outcomes for underserved communities

Bonus Points

  • Experience with credit card compliance
  • Prior work in a mission-driven or social impact organization
  • Familiarity with fintech platforms and digital lending technologies

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary ($150K-$175K)
  • Equity options
  • Remote-first culture with flexible work hours
  • Opportunity to shape the future of financial access for front-line workers
  • A chance to join a fast-growing, VC-backed startup at a pivotal moment in its journey
