The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Partner, General Liability Attorney to join its team in Houston, Texas. This opportunity is ideal for an accomplished litigator looking to join a nationally respected platform, lead complex litigation matters, and play a key role in the continued growth of the practice.
The position offers substantial autonomy, direct client interaction, leadership responsibilities, and access to sophisticated national and regional clients. Attorneys will work alongside experienced litigators across multiple offices while helping expand client relationships and strengthen the firm's presence in the Houston market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Develop and execute case strategy, including discovery planning, motion practice, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, insurance carriers, and corporate counsel
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda
- Conduct and oversee depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on complex and multi-jurisdictional matters
- Mentor and develop associates, counsel, and support staff
- Contribute to business development initiatives and client relationship growth
- Support practice development and strategic expansion efforts
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active Texas bar license in good standing
- 10+ years of defense litigation experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- General Liability
- Premises Liability
- Product Liability
- Construction Litigation
- Transportation Litigation
- Insurance Defense
- Strong analytical, writing, advocacy, and client management skills
- Experience independently managing sophisticated litigation matters
- Trial experience
- Portable business is welcomed but not required
