Executive Director - Lead Negotiator
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the Americas coverage function, overseeing team members located in the United States, South America, and Mumbai.
- Direct and supervise a contract negotiation team responsible for a wide range of trading documentation, including ISDA Master Agreements and related materials, Repurchase Agreements, securities financing agreements, tri-party agreements, collateral arrangements, and confidentiality agreements, supporting various businesses and a diverse client base.
- Maintain daily interaction with Sales and Trading, Risk Management, Credit, Legal, and other internal partners to negotiate and execute trading agreements, including resolving and escalating legal and commercial terms as needed.
- Act as the primary escalation point for the documentation team, handling requests from business units and stakeholders, making decisions on negotiation terms, prioritization, and client onboarding matters.
- Address internal and external queries related to negotiations, escalating issues to senior leadership when appropriate and supporting problem resolution.
- Drive strategy and execution across negotiation workflows, including regulatory and business-driven initiatives.
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert on trading documentation, including templates, internal processes, systems, and governance forums.
- Oversee the team's role in responding to regulatory changes, including documentation updates, client outreach, and internal governance activities.
Skills Required
- 8+ years of experience negotiating a broad range of trading agreements, with strong knowledge of key provisions and their negotiability; familiarity with underlying traded products is preferred.
- Proven experience managing teams of negotiation professionals, including delegation, prioritization, performance management, and development.
- Strong track record of working directly with senior stakeholders across Sales and Trading, Credit, Risk, Legal, and Operations to solve problems, set priorities, and manage relationships.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- JD Preferred
