Class Action Counsel - Multiple Focus Areas (Discovery, Case Evaluation, Brief Writing)

Full-Time * Remote * 1500 Billable Hours

An AmLaw‑ranked labor & employment firm is seeking experienced attorneys to join its Class Action Counsel Team. This group is structured into three specialized tracks-Discovery, Case Evaluation, and Brief Writing-allowing attorneys to focus on the litigation phase that best aligns with their strengths and interests. Candidates may express interest in one track or be considered across all three.

This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys who enjoy complex, high‑impact class and collective action work while maintaining greater work‑life balance. These roles are fully remote, require no business development, and carry a reduced billable‑hours expectation of 1500 hours.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary by track, but Class Action Counsel may engage in:

Discovery Track

  • Drafting and responding to written discovery in complex class, collective, and representative actions (including PAGA matters)
  • Evidence management, document review, and document production
  • Coordinating with clients to gather and organize responsive documents
  • Collaborating with litigation support teams and vendors
  • Preparing for meet‑and‑confer processes and drafting discovery‑related briefing
  • Developing discovery strategy in partnership with trial teams

Case Evaluation Track

  • Evaluating incoming class, collective, and representative matters
  • Assessing exposure, risk, fact patterns, and strategic defenses
  • Drafting case assessments and recommendations
  • Supporting trial teams with early‑phase strategy analysis

Brief Writing Track

  • Drafting high‑quality legal briefs, motions, and substantive memoranda
  • Conducting in‑depth legal research on wage and hour, class certification, and representative action issues
  • Supporting trial teams with dispositive motions and appellate‑level writing

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in wage and hour class, collective, and/or representative actions
  • Strong background in complex litigation; California wage & hour or PAGA experience preferred
  • Experience with large‑scale discovery, legal research, brief writing, or case evaluation (depending on track)
  • Ability to independently manage assignments and deliver high‑quality work within a specialized workflow
  • Active bar license in the candidate's state of residence
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent written/oral communication skills
