Assistant Legal Counsel
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of commercial contracts, including freight, carrier, vendor, and logistics agreements
- Identify contractual risks, ensure alignment with internal policies, and support contract lifecycle management
- Advise on U.S. import/export regulations, including EAR, ITAR, customs requirements, and OFAC trade sanctions
- Support and help maintain the company's global trade compliance program
- Provide regulatory guidance to internal stakeholders and deliver compliance training
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies as needed
- Support broader legal initiatives, including regulatory risk management, dispute support, and legal research
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school (LL.M. considered for foreign‑trained attorneys)
- 2-5 years of experience in international trade, logistics, supply chain, or commercial contracting
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial and logistics‑related contracts
- Working knowledge of U.S. import/export controls, sanctions, and customs procedures
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, operational environment
Strongly Preferred
- Mandarin Chinese proficiency or conversational ability
- Experience supporting Asia‑based suppliers, logistics partners, or U.S.-China trade activity
- Background in logistics, freight forwarding, or global supply‑chain operations
- Familiarity with CBP systems (e.g., ACE, AMS)
