Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel

Location: Greenville, South Carolina

About the Role:

A leading commercial bank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join its dynamic legal team. This role focuses on providing strategic legal guidance and support for the bank's retail banking and deposit operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while enabling business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise internal stakeholders on legal matters related to retail banking products, including checking, savings, CDs, and other deposit instruments.
  • Provide legal support for product development, marketing, and customer communications.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state banking regulations, including Regulation D, E, CC, DD, and UDAAP.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and disclosures related to retail banking services.
  • Collaborate with risk, compliance, and operations teams to manage legal risk and implement best practices.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on retail banking and deposit operations.
  • Support responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 4 years of legal experience, with a strong focus on retail banking and deposit products.
  • In-house counsel experience at a financial institution or relevant law firm experience preferred.
  • Deep understanding of banking laws and regulations, including consumer protection and deposit compliance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
