Assistant General Counsel, Antitrust & Competition

Our client, a multi-billion-dollar industry-leading manufacturer/distributor, is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Antitrust & Competition to join their legal team. This role reports directly to the General Counsel, and will serve a pivotal role in shaping global and national antitrust and competition law, proactively problem solving critical business decisions, and maintaining a strong company culture.

Reports to: General Counsel

Location: Fully on-site in Columbus, OH

Job Description:

  • Oversee and manage the company's worldwide competition and corporate compliance portfolio, advancing innovation, strengthening performance, and elevating operations.
  • Work closely with the General Counsel on critical business decisions, M&A initiatives, and transactional commercial strategy.
  • Act as the company's chief legal advisor for anti-trust matters, ethical conduct, conflicts of interest, and key regulatory risk areas.
  • Master knowledge of the overall business and become embedded with executive, director, and C-suite level individuals as a trusted partner.
  • Direct the management of regulatory bodies, engage/manage external counsel, and oversee internal investigations.
  • Support the company's antitrust strategy and analysis for all merger and acquisition activity.
  • Develop and uphold company-wide governance tools, including policy systems, reporting structures, and general risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate across several different major business units to integrate legal, compliance, and antitrust/competition principles into routine workflows within the organization
  • Provide company-wide trainings and counsel different business units on various legal matters as needed.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of legal expertise in global and domestic Antitrust & Competition law
  • J.D. from an accredited law school or university
  • Proven experience in both an in-house and law firm setting is preferred
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex antitrust investigations and compliance
  • Ability to lead a diverse legal team
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
