About the Role
As a Relationship Manager - Corporate Banking (Shipping), you will join a specialised maritime division within a tier-1 private bank, focusing on high-touch, relationship-driven client coverage.
You will sit at the heart of clients' day-to-day operations, supporting international shipping players with global payments, treasury solutions, and operational banking needs.
Shipping is a unique, globally connected niche: a tight-knit market where relationships matter, exposure is international, and no two days look the same - particularly given the sector's sensitivity to geopolitics, sanctions, and global trade flows.
Your Responsibilities
Client Relationship & Commercial Ownership
- Manage and deepen relationships with a portfolio of international shipping clients (shipowners, managers, operators)
- Act as a trusted partner for clients' daily financial operations
- Drive growth through solution-led conversations, identifying opportunities across payments, cash management, and FX
- Build long-term relationships in a highly interconnected, relationship-driven niche sector
Daily Operations & Client Delivery
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day banking activities, including:
- Cross-border and USD payments (SWIFT, multi-bank setups)
- Electronic banking solutions
- Guarantee / trade-related business
- Cash management and liquidity support
- Support clients with complex, high-volume operational flows
- Act as the key escalation point for sanctions-related or transaction challenges
About You
You are a strong fit if you bring:
- Experience as a Relationship Manager, Payments/Treasury Specialist, or Corporate Banking professional
- Strong exposure to international payments, cash management, or treasury solutions (shipping experience not required, but desirable)
- A client-facing, commercial mindset, with confidence engaging senior finance stakeholders (CFO / Treasury)
- Solid understanding of:
- Cross-border payments & banking infrastructure
- Liquidity / cash management structures
- FX and transaction banking products
- Fluency in German and English
