Consumer Financial Services Litigation Associate - California (Remote Flexibility Available)

A national law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its growing Consumer Financial Services practice. Opportunities are available throughout California, with Los Angeles preferred, and the firm offers substantial hybrid and remote flexibility.

Unlike many specialized practices, the team places greater emphasis on strong litigation skills than direct consumer financial services experience. Attorneys from insurance defense, commercial litigation, government, investigations, ADA, healthcare litigation, professional liability, and other litigation-heavy practices are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent financial institutions, lenders, loan servicers, and other financial services clients in complex litigation matters.
  • Handle cases through all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and strategic case evaluations.
  • Conduct witness preparation and develop litigation strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys and partners.
  • Maintain direct client contact and assume ownership of day-to-day case management responsibilities.
  • Work on sophisticated litigation matters within a growing national practice.

Key Qualifications

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active California Bar admission.
  • 2+ years of litigation experience.
  • Strong motion practice, deposition, and case management experience.
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Consumer financial services experience is welcome but not required.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Open to litigators transitioning from other practice areas.
  • Significant remote and hybrid flexibility throughout California.
  • Highly accessible and supportive leadership team.
  • Substantial mentorship and training from experienced litigators.
  • Opportunity to join a practice group with immediate hiring needs and strong long-term growth.
  • Fast-moving interview process with the potential for streamlined hiring decisions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience, location, and overall fit.
  • Performance bonus opportunities.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, retirement, and disability benefits.
  • Flexible work arrangements and strong emphasis on attorney work-life balance.
  • Collaborative culture with excellent attorney retention and long-term career growth opportunities.

Whether you're an insurance defense attorney looking for a more specialized practice, a government litigator interested in private practice, or a commercial litigator seeking a new challenge, this role offers a rare opportunity to transition into a growing practice area that values strong litigation skills above direct industry experience.
