Legal Counsel
Our client, a growing global renewable energy developer is seeking a commercially minded attorney to support its US operations. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with internal project teams across development and construction, contributing directly to the successful delivery of large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
About the Role
The Attorney will serve as a key legal partner across multiple stages of project execution, with a primary focus on EPC-related contracting. The position is well-suited to a pragmatic, business-minded legal professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment and supporting complex projects from early development through construction and operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate EPC agreements, subcontracts, supply agreements, and related construction documents for solar and energy infrastructure projects.
- Provide legal guidance on contractual risk, rights, and obligations throughout development and construction phases.
- Advise on procurement strategy, change orders, delay and disruption issues, and performance-related matters.
- Support the negotiation and structuring of land agreements, interconnection agreements, and other project-level contracts.
- Assist with matters related to U.S. clean energy incentives, including federal tax credits and associated compliance considerations.
- Collaborate with external counsel, finance teams, and commercial stakeholders on transactions and regulatory matters.
- Track relevant legal and regulatory developments affecting the renewable energy sector and provide practical guidance to the business.
- Contribute to internal legal processes, including the development and refinement of contract templates and workflows.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Approximately 2-7 years of experience in the U.S. renewable energy sector, with meaningful exposure to solar projects.
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating EPC contracts is essential.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
- Working knowledge of U.S. federal clean energy incentives and construction-related regulatory considerations.
- Clear communicator, able to explain complex legal issues to non-legal audiences.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic project-based environment.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
