This remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced labor and employment attorney licensed in California who is seeking a flexible, litigation‑focused role without business development pressure. The position centers on high‑quality written advocacy, administrative agency work, and employment litigation for a variety of clients, including matters involving Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI). Lower hours availabile (compensation aligned to hours) 1500-1850 billable hours
Key Responsibilities
- Handle administrative agency charges, including drafting position statements and coordinating responses.
- Respond to attorney demand letters and manage pre‑litigation strategy.
- Lead or support single‑plaintiff employment litigation, with potential involvement in class actions, PAGA matters, and other labor and employment cases.
- Develop and implement case strategies, including evaluation of claims, defenses, and exposure.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct and/or supervise depositions, including preparation of witnesses and strategic planning.
- Represent clients at hearings, conferences, mediations, and trials (primarily remote; occasional local travel may be required).
- Collaborate with partners and other attorneys in a virtual team environment, supported by paralegals and shared administrative staff.
- Provide efficient, high‑quality legal services with a focus on productivity and strong work/life balance.
- Operate autonomously in a remote setting while maintaining consistent communication and coordination with team members.
Qualifications
- JD from an ABA‑accredited law school.
- At least 2-7+ years of experience in employment law and litigation.
- Active bar membership in good standing; California admission
- Experience handling employment matters before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts.
- Strong background drafting litigation documents, evaluating cases, and managing discovery.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
- Preferred:
- Prior law firm experience.
- Experience with EPLI‑related matters.
