Junior Planning Associate
Planning Associate
An opportunity has arisen for a Planning Solicitor (from 1 PQE) to join a leading and well‑established planning and environment team based outside London. This is an excellent role for a lawyer who is keen to build a long‑term career within a specialist planning practice that is both highly ranked and continuing to grow.
The team is widely recognised as one of the largest specialist planning groups outside the capital and advises on a broad range of high‑quality, often complex matters. Lawyers in the team work on major infrastructure, energy and strategic residential projects, providing commercially focused and pragmatic advice to a diverse client base.
You will work closely with major housebuilders, developers operating across residential, industrial and logistics sectors, as well as infrastructure providers and other key stakeholders. The work involves advising on large‑scale residential, commercial and industrial developments from early strategy through to delivery, offering tactical guidance on planning risk, regulatory issues and project structuring.
This role offers exposure to sophisticated, often high‑profile matters, along with the opportunity to take on responsibility at an early stage, supported by senior lawyers who are leaders in the field. The environment is collaborative and supportive, with a strong emphasis on development, mentoring and progression.
The position would suit an ambitious planning solicitor who enjoys technically interesting work and is looking to grow within a top‑ranked team offering genuine scope for advancement. It is particularly well suited to candidates who value quality of work, strong client relationships and a culture that supports long‑term career development outside London.
What we are looking for
Applicants should be qualified solicitors with at least 1 year PQE, specialising in planning law. A genuine interest in major development, infrastructure and energy‑related work is essential, along with a proactive and commercially minded approach.
