The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Corporate Counsel based in Dallas, TX (on‑site with limited hybrid flexibility after onboarding). You'll be a hands‑on advisor to project and executive teams-owning contract strategy, claims prevention/resolution, and regulatory guidance across commercial construction and select energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Draft, review, and negotiate prime/owner, subcontract, commercial, and union agreements (design‑build/EPC included).

* Advise on contract interpretation, claims and dispute strategy, supplier and design‑build issues, and compliance obligations.

* Support government‑contracting matters, insurance coverage, bond and lien claims, bankruptcy touchpoints, and employment‑adjacent issues.

* Develop and maintain policies, compliance programs, playbooks/templates; track KPIs and drive process improvements.

* Manage outside counsel and provide litigation support (including subpoena responses).

* Deliver training to project teams and leaders; research new markets, services, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

* Juris Doctor (JD); admitted and in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction.

* 7-10 years of construction‑focused legal experience; in‑house construction experience preferred.

* Demonstrated EPC and design‑build experience (risk allocation, flow‑downs, LDs, warranties, performance security).

* Proven record drafting and negotiating construction contracts, subcontracts, and union agreements.

* Strength in claims strategy, dispute resolution, and practical, business‑minded counseling to non‑lawyers.

* Highly organized, proactive, and collaborative; effective across estimating, operations, risk, safety, finance, and leadership.
