Director, Business Development & Origination
We are partnering with a leading litigation finance and legal capital provider to identify a Director of Business Development & Origination to join its growing team.
This is a highly visible, externally facing role focused on developing relationships with law firms, trial attorneys, and other legal industry stakeholders to source new business opportunities. The position offers the opportunity to play a key role in expanding market presence, originating new transactions, and partnering closely with senior leadership on growth initiatives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a pipeline of opportunities, building strategic relationships, evaluating potential prospects, and advancing opportunities through the deal process in collaboration with internal investment and underwriting teams. The role is ideal for a business development professional who thrives in a relationship-driven environment and enjoys interacting directly with business owners, founders, partners, and senior decision-makers.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities through direct outreach, referrals, networking, and industry events.
- Build and maintain relationships with law firms, attorneys, and other professional services organizations.
- Qualify prospective opportunities and assess commercial viability before transitioning opportunities internally.
- Partner with underwriting and investment professionals to structure and advance transactions.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to prospective clients, communicating complex financial solutions in a practical and business-oriented manner.
- Track market trends, competitive activity, and industry developments to support business growth.
- Manage a consistent pipeline of opportunities and maintain visibility into key origination metrics.
Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience in business development, origination, deal sourcing, relationship management, or a similar client-facing role.
- Experience within litigation finance, legal services, professional services, private credit, specialty finance, alternative investments, or other relationship-driven industries is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to build relationships with senior executives, attorneys, partners, founders, or business owners.
- Strong consultative sales and business development skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently in a growth-oriented environment.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees are a plus.
