Assistant General Counsel
An industry leader in U.S. food service is looking to expand their legal team. This client has been recognized for their best-in-class products, and they are a trusted brand for some of the largest names in foodservice.
They are looking for an Assistant General Counsel that can advise on general legal matters with a strong emphasis on labor and employment matters. This position involves advising leadership and HR teams on a wide range of workplace legal issues, managing labor relations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor on employment-related matters, including union negotiations, workplace disputes, and compliance with wage and hour laws.
- Monitor legal developments and provide proactive counsel to mitigate risk and support business objectives.
- Oversee employment litigation and collaborate with external counsel on active cases and regulatory matters.
- Draft and review employment contracts, separation agreements, and internal policy documents.
- Conduct internal investigations and provide strategic guidance on employee relations and disciplinary actions.
- Deliver training and resources to internal teams on employment law topics and best practices.
Background
- Demonstrated experience handling union-related matters, including collective bargaining and grievance resolution.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 8+ years of legal experience, with a strong foundation in labor and employment law.
- Prior in-house experience or work with large, multi-state employers is a plus.
