Senior Regulatory & Compliance Counsel - Global Consumer Products Brand

Larson Maddox has partnered with a globally recognized consumer products company to identify a Senior Regulatory & Compliance Counsel. This attorney will play a highly visible role within the legal department, advising business leaders on regulatory strategy, product compliance, risk management, and governance initiatives across a complex international operation. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams while helping shape the legal and compliance framework of a market-leading consumer brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor on regulatory and compliance matters for a global consumer products business, partnering closely with leadership to manage legal and business risk.
  • Counsel internal stakeholders on product compliance issues, including product safety requirements, chemical testing programs, certification standards, and regulatory obligations across multiple markets.
  • Advise on labeling, packaging, product claims, consumer disclosures, and other requirements impacting the sale and distribution of consumer products globally.
  • Monitor regulatory developments related to consumer products, sustainability initiatives, environmental requirements, and supply chain operations, translating changes into practical business guidance.
  • Lead and enhance supplier and manufacturer compliance programs, including third-party oversight, audit support, and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners, including testing laboratories, certification organizations, outside counsel, and regulatory authorities, to address complex compliance matters.

Qualifications

  • J.D. and active admission to at least one U.S. state bar with 8+ years of relevant legal experience.
  • Significant experience advising on regulatory, compliance, product counseling, or related commercial matters within consumer products, retail, apparel, footwear, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of product safety regulations, chemical compliance requirements, testing protocols, certification processes, and labeling obligations.
  • Experience developing and managing compliance programs, assessing regulatory risk, and providing practical guidance to business stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with domestic and international regulatory frameworks affecting product manufacturing, sourcing, distribution, and commercialization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across legal and business teams while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
