Senior Legal Counsel - Renewable Energy

I'm working a fast growing renewable energy firm, based in Sydney, Manly. They are currently looking for a Legal Counsel to support the business. The firm has a deep pipeline of development projects that are set to hit financial close soon across solar energy, wind energy, and BESS projects and you will get the opportunity to work closely with the team on projects across Australia. You will also get to work closely and directly with the Chief Legal Officer.

Key responsibilities of the Legal Counsel:

  • Provide legal support across the full project lifecycle of development, financing, construction and O&M
  • Draft, review, negotiate and advise on land agreements, SSA/SHAs, JDAs, procurement contracts, construction contracts (ECI, early works, EPC/ split scope), connection agreements, PPAs, project finance documents, O&M contracts
  • Provide support across corporate transactions such as acquisitions, divestments and JVs including due dilgience, negotiation and documentation
  • Providesupport on compliance including SOCI and FIRB to the business
  • Provide mentoriship to junior lawyers and support corporate governance activities
  • Represent the firm in neogitations and communications with external stakeholders

Key requirements of the Legal Counsel:

  • Qualified Australian lawyer with rights to live and work in Australia.
  • 8+ years PQE, with strong experience in one or more of the following areas: energy/ construction/ infrastructure/ major projects/ M&A (front end) in Australia.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with strong attention to detail
