Senior Counsel - Commercial & Anti-trust
Our client, an global leading & award-winning company is looking to bring on a Director-level Senior Counsel to handle a wide variety of both Anti-trust and Commercial Generalist matters. This individual will provide strategic anti-trust/competition advice and commercial support to senior management & executives of the company. They will also lead complex, high-dollar value business deals with distributors and their global channel partners.
Job Title: Senior Counsel (Director Level)
Location: Northern Chicago Suburbs (3 days in)
Structure: Reports directly into the VP, General Counsel EMEA & NA
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor for a major business unit or region, deeply embedded with senior leadership as a trusted strategic partner.
- Directly oversee Paralegals & Contracts Managers, and supervise/mentor younger attorneys
- Lead and advise on complex, high-value commercial transactions, particularly involving distributors and global channel partners.
- Act as the global lead for Antitrust & Competition Law, providing expert guidance and driving compliance across jurisdictions.
- Deliver proactive legal solutions across a broad spectrum including commercial strategy, antitrust, data privacy, and corporate governance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal and business teams to develop innovative strategies that support growth and mitigate risk.
- Monitor and interpret legislative developments in antitrust and competition law, ensuring the organization remains ahead of regulatory changes.
- Draft and negotiate sophisticated commercial agreements, including bespoke contracts requiring creative legal structuring.
- Champion legal operations excellence by promoting standardized tools, processes, and technology initiatives within the department.
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in the U.S.
- 7-15+ years of legal experience, with a strong background in antitrust, commercial, or corporate law.
- Prior in-house counsel experience preferred; law firm experience also considered.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed organization and influence senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills.
