Real Estate & Development Counsel
A growing renewable energy developer is seeking a Real Estate & Project Development Counsel to join its growing U.S. platform. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who enjoys being deeply involved in the real estate foundations of utility-scale energy projects, with a particular emphasis on title review, title curative, survey analysis, and project closing support.
This role sits at the intersection of legal, land, development, and project execution, offering exposure across a large portfolio of solar and energy storage projects while serving as a key advisor on the issues that ultimately determine project viability and financeability.
What You'll Be Doing
The primary focus of this position is managing and driving title curative efforts across a portfolio of development-stage projects. The successful candidate will play a critical role identifying, assessing, and resolving title, survey, access, easement, and ownership issues that impact project development and transaction readiness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading review of title commitments, exception documents, surveys, and related real estate diligence
- Managing complex title curative workstreams, including surface, mineral, access, and ownership-related issues
- Partnering with development, engineering, land, and executive teams to resolve real estate risks in a practical, business-oriented manner
- Reviewing easements, leases, access agreements, crossing agreements, amendments, and other site-control documents
- Supporting project acquisitions, financings, and dispositions through title and survey diligence, endorsement negotiations, and closing coordination
- Working directly with title companies, surveyors, land professionals, and outside counsel to advance projects toward closing readiness
- Helping build scalable internal processes and tools for title tracking, curative management, and transaction execution
Ideal Background
- 5+ years of legal experience in commercial real estate, project development, real estate finance, or a related practice
- Strong background in title review, title insurance, survey review, and title curative
- Experience resolving easement, access, encroachment, mineral, and other real estate-related issues
- Familiarity with project closings, acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and due diligence processes
- JD and active U.S. bar admission
- Renewable energy, infrastructure, power, or development experience preferred but not required
Why This Opportunity?
- Fully remote opportunity for U.S.-based candidates
- Highly specialized role with significant ownership over title and curative strategy
- Direct partnership with business leaders and project stakeholders
- Opportunity to work on utility-scale renewable energy projects from early-stage development through closing
- Blend of sophisticated legal work and practical business problem-solving
- Visible, hands-on position where your work directly impacts project execution and transaction success
This opportunity is particularly well-suited for attorneys who enjoy the investigative and problem-solving aspects of title and curative work and want to be a key player in bringing large-scale energy infrastructure projects from development to reality.
