A nationally respected management-side employment law practice is seeking an experienced Employment Counsel to join its remote litigation team. This opportunity is ideal for attorneys who enjoy handling employment disputes and agency matters while maintaining a flexible, fully remote work arrangement.

The role involves managing a diverse caseload that may include employment-related administrative proceedings, pre-litigation disputes, workplace investigations, and litigation matters in both state and federal courts. Attorneys will collaborate with a team of seasoned practitioners and legal support professionals while handling substantive case responsibilities from inception through resolution.

This position is particularly well suited for attorneys who prefer focusing on legal strategy, advocacy, and case management rather than business development. The practice provides a steady flow of work, allowing attorneys to concentrate on delivering high-quality legal services without the expectation of generating clients or maintaining extensive marketing responsibilities.

  • Defend employers in a broad range of workplace disputes
  • Manage agency charges and related administrative proceedings
  • Draft pleadings, motions, position statements, and other litigation filings
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategy
  • Handle discovery, written advocacy, and settlement negotiations
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff in a fully virtual environment

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active bar license in good standing
  • 5+ years of employment law and litigation experience
  • Experience handling matters before administrative agencies and state or federal courts
  • Strong written advocacy, case management, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting

Preferred Background

  • Prior law firm experience
  • Experience representing employers in workplace disputes
  • Familiarity with insurance-backed employment litigation matters
  • California bar admission is a plus

What the Firm Offers

  • Fully remote work environment
  • Competitive compensation package
  • Reduced non-billable expectations compared to many traditional law firm roles
  • Flexible billable structure designed to support work-life balance
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits
  • Retirement savings plan with employer contributions
  • Generous paid time off and parental leave programs
  • Collaborative and supportive culture focused on long-term attorney success

Billable Hours and Compensation

Aattorneys select an annual billable-hour target between 1,500 and 1,850 hours. Compensation is determined based on the selected billable-hour target.

Salary is expected to fall within the mid-to-high six-figure range and will be determined based on experience, geographic market, qualifications, and selected workload expectations.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced employment attorneys seeking sophisticated management-side work, a national platform, and the flexibility of a fully remote practice.
